At the heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus…Accordingly, the definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch
but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ: only He can lead us to the
love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.
(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 426; Catechesi Tradendae, 5)
Leading others to encounter and relationship with Jesus truly is the center of all that we do and why we exist as the Department of Catholic Education and Faith Formation. Our mission statement is clear, we are about forming lifelong disciples who witness God's love with joy! This is the primary aim in all that we do whether it be at the parish, the school, on the field or court, or out in the community.
Discipleship is a lifelong process in which we come to know God more fully in every part of our life, realizing his unconditional love for us, his desire for our happiness, and the unique ways he wishes to bless the world through us. Discipleship in no way holds us back or limits our freedom; on the contrary, when we are open to the lifelong growth of discipleship, we become fully alive!
The glory of God is the human person fully alive!
